Hello you.
How are you doing?
How do you feel this morning?
Your smiles give off a story of success. Your eyes however seem to tell me a whole different story. They have always been the windows to the soul of course, haven't they? And in them I see unrest. I see the bits and fragments of a soul that only in the eyes can be seen. Those tender fears - the steady, ringing questions in your head that have always been there - never leaving, and almost as old as your name itself. Those questions you've come to associate with the inner workings of your mind.
Thoughts and ponderings that cause the chaos swirling within your heart, barely beneath the surface but that you've come to see as landmarks in the terrain that is your mind.
Thoughts you've tried without success to smother for they ask you questions for which you've found no answers. Questions that leave you unsure. Questions that make you doubt the very core of your existence. Questions you hear whisper through your mind but you've left unanswered for years, afraid of just what you might uncover. Unprepared for the dust it might raise, foundations it might shake.
And still, they remain. Day in, day out, those questions form the barely-there shadows in your eyes. Those questions cause them to dart about in barely-hidden panic when someone comes close to asking them to your face. Those questions rip to shreds all you think you've ever known when you sit down and take out time to dip the tentacles of your mind into them and try to unwind them: they instead leave you undone. Those questions are the never ending secrets of your heart. The ones you try to hide but deep down know only Christ can answer.
He's the truth that shines brightest in the midst of our chaotic thoughts. The river that can sweep aside those pillars of heart-turning questions and leave beauty and stability in its wake. Dare to bring those questions to Him today.
