Strength.
Never in my life have I experienced a season where this word is in the highest demand, like it has been in this season. All around me, I see people being crushed under the weight of responsibilities and commitments, their gazes slowly growing agitated and confused, before settling into a blank, discouraged dullness.
And I've been forced to stop in my tracks a time or two as well—when the crushing almost became too much for me to breathe, and I had so much to say, it felt like my lungs were on fire from keeping all my frustrations bottled in.
Beloved, there's something better for you. I being fully aware of a time like this, have provided for you all you need in this season.
These weren't his exact words to me (actually, they were quite longer and incredibly sweet), but it pretty much sums it all up.
In a season where people are choking, not only from expectations, but from the inward sense of doom that seems to clog the atmosphere in different layers—ranging from the tension associated with so many exams coming with the speed of a faulty freight train, to the other cares currently plaguing our highly sought after hearts—we have an assuring, abiding hope:
God's strength.
A "cliché" that rings truer than true, but has encouraged men in seasons past, and will still do so for us:
"David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God."
—1 Samuel 30:6; The Amplified Version
"And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold."
—Nehemiah 8:10; The Amplified Version.
Let it fill your heart, and help you soar on eagle's wings.
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom/what shall I be afraid?
