Worth more than pigs; worth more than sparrows...

As a woman who learns better from analogies and being able to relate abstract thoughts to the things around me, nothing hits better when trying to understand God's words for me than stories that relate it to something. So, I'm very sure Jesus had me, and others like me, in mind whenever he gave analogies to explain certain concepts. But for me, the ones dearest to my heart are analogies that help me understand just how much value God places on me; how dear to his heart a single person is. "So do not be afraid; you are worth much more than many sparrows!"

Matthew 10:31 GNT "Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned."

Luke 8:33 ESV Now, I don't believe in animal cruelty, nor in cruelty of any form. And I know this scripture is not a blatant disregard of animals, because even in other scriptures, Jesus doesn't fail to mention just how well God takes care of the birds and is aware of them. And this makes it all the more glaring how much the Father loves us. The realisation that I'm the greatest of his works, his very own masterpiece (Ep. 2:10), is something that fills me with wonder. You know, the kind of wonder that made King David exclaim, "I will praise you, for I am fearfully and WONDERFULLY made!" I believe he had a glimpse of the intricacy involved in our creation, and got insight into how valuable God took us to be. And day in, day out, when I'm feeling down on my luck, totally unappealing, or very unloved, scriptures such as this never fail to act as salve; never fail to make the love seem louder, to make the gravity of what I mean to him sink in. Scriptures like this soothe my rapidly beating heart, and remind me that I'm not alone on this journey. And that right now, I walk the earth and go through life with a Father who looks at me with such tenderness, and who'd make two trips across the sea just to make me mentally whole, regardless of people's opinions on whether it's profitable or not. They scream into the silence that I am loved. And for me, that's the greatest flex in the world.🥰
